Concerns have been raised after 'laughing gas' canisters and other rubbish was found left at a Wrexham country park.

One disgruntled resident, who wished to remain anonymous, took to social media on Sunday to share photographs of used nitrous oxide canisters, otherwise known as 'laughing gas' at Alyn Waters Country Park.

They posted: "Sad to see people leaving so much litter in Alyn Waters."

Alongside the used canisters, the photographs also show discarded litter dumped at the popular country park, which resulted in many commenters of the original Facebook post calling for more action to be taken to combat this ongoing issue, including more CCTV cameras being installed in the area.

One social media user commented: "It's a disgrace people leaving their rubbish like this when we have such a beautiful place on our doorstep."

Another user commented: "Awful - how to make a beautiful place a mess.

"I cannot believe some people."

A spokesman for Wrexham Council said: "Litter can be reported online using this link https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/online/report_it.htm or by calling 01978 298989.

"If members of the public witness antisocial behaviour, then they should report this immediately using the police 101 line.

"In an emergency, always call 999."
