AN inquest into the death of a former professional footballer has been opened.
Alan Leslie Jarvis, 76, of Cottage Nursing Home in Mold was a retired footballer when he died on December 15 at his home address.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales (East and Central) said the death was reported to him by Mr Jarvis’ GP as questions were raised over whether the death was linked to his former occupation.
Mr Gittins said it was ‘likely’ the death of Mr Jarvis, who lived with dementia, could potentially be linked to previously ‘heading’ the football which would have been the ‘old type, heavier footballs’.
A post-mortem was carried out in Scotland which confirmed there was a possibility the two may be linked.
The inquest was adjourned until a later date.
