A WREXHAM woman has raised hundreds of pounds after running every single day for a month.

Ellie Dowsett set herself the challenge to run 5k a day throughout the month of May in a bid to raise £1,000 for the Nightingale House Hospice.

Having completed her last run on May 31, she managed to surpass her own target.

She said: "It went really well. My legs are a bit sore but I'm really chuffed to have completed the challenge.

"I got through the whole month, it's not just case of aches and pains it's about fitting it in but I managed to run every day and it's not rained once.

The Leader:

"I wasn't expecting to raise that much money. I made an ambitious target and to actually reach it off my own back is really good.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to my family and to everyone who has donated and everyone in the village for their support when they saw me running past.

"It's been lovely going around the village and on my last night one family clapped every time I passed them.

"The support has been fantastic."

Ellie chose Nightingale House hospice as it was a cause close to her heart.

She previously told the Leader: "Nightingale House Hospice, I had two family members who were cared for end of life and the services they provide to the community are vital, so naturally I went towards supporting them.

"I haven't ran for quite a long time and I had my second child eight months ago so I thought what could I do to challenge myself.

Ellie said she has been running around her village of Marchwiel and neighbours have been cheering her on, giving her support.
