A YOUNG girl has sent letters to key workers on the front line to brighten their day and thank them for the hard work they are doing.

Staff working in five local community hospitals will have received a letter from Lily Pringle-Purcell from Connah's Quay - who knows all too well the amazing work they do daily.

Her mum Lauren recently finished treatment for non-hodgkins lymphoma in April amidst the chaos of lockdown.

The seven-year-old also intends to write thank you letters to local cancer centres.

Mum Lauren said: “She’s truly amazing. I personally have just completed treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and she had to watch me go through that and she’s so strong.

“All she wants to do is help other people. She wants to thank them for everything they have done.”

Lauren was diagnosed with cancer in August 2019 and celebrated after finishing her treatment in April.

She told the Leader that her young daughter knows exactly just how hard staff work day in and day out.

She added: “She’s the nicest little girl ever and she’s only seven, still only really young.

“When I was going through my treatment I wanted to mask a lot of it from her but she’s so switched on.

“All she wants to do is look after others. I’m so proud of her, I’m absolutely beaming how she’s taken it all on.

“We were ready to go back to normal in April after finishing my treatment but then the lockdown was ongoing, she just wants to make people smile.”
