THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has not recorded any coronavirus deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 29) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths of patients testing positive for the virus remained at 170.

The trust covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 575 – another daily increase of four.

Only Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 176, followed by the Countess (170), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (118) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (111).

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the county now stands at ???, with Cheshire West and Chester recording 1,110. Cheshire East (1,214), Halton (394) and Warrington (764).

Across England, a further 149 people –down from 185 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 26,383.

Patients were aged between 35 and 101 years-old. A total of 11 of the 149 patients were aged between 70 and 95, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 29 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
