WREXHAM carers were showered with applause after selflessly spent over one month locking down with residents.

The Leader previously reported that Wrexham’s Bay Tree House and Cherry Tree Care Home - run by Orchard Care Group - stopped visits as a coronavirus precaution.

Operations manager Gaynor Jones told the Leader both care homes took protective measures a step further thanks to the support of their hard-working teams.

However, this week saw the end of the remarkable and dedicated care home lockdown as staff at Cherry Tree in Coedpoeth headed home to their loved ones.

They have selflessly lived and worked in the home for the last six weeks in an effort to protect residents from Covid-19.

Gemma Atkins one of the Directors said: "Words cannot express how very proud and truly grateful we are to these wonderful individuals. Deputy Manager Joanne Mannering and her team are a true inspiration. The selfless dedication and commitment displayed over the past 6 weeks has been amazing.

“You have loved and cared for our amazing people; kept them safe and well and it will never be forgotten.

“You’re all heroes. A huge thank you for all you have done."

The home will continue to take every precaution possible to protect residents and staff.
