THE coach industry has come together to raise over £1,000 for local NHS heroes on the frontline fight against coronavirus.

The Leader previously reported that Rebecca and David Price, of Price Coaches in New Broughton, wanted firms to come together to pay their respects for NHS staff at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

Last month for the national Clap for Carers event, eight local firms went to the hospital with their decorated vehicles and paid their respects.

Of the coach firms involved included Price Coaches, Lloyds Coaches, Straffords Coaches, Unicorn Travel, EJones of Rhos Coaches, Acton Coaches, George Edwards and Son Coaches and Pats coaches.

The aim was for one member of each firm in the Wrexham area to take a coach to the hospital with hazards and beeping horns.

A fundraising page was set up and each local firm donated £50.

The total now stands at £1,115.20 which will be donated to the hospital.

Rebecca Price said: “A lot of you know that we as a coach industry came together and showed our appreciation for the doctors, nurses and keyworkers.

“We managed to raise a brilliant £1,115.20. I cannot thank Price Coaches, Pats Coaches, Straffords Coaches, Jones of Rhos, George Edwards Coaches, Unicorn, Lloyds and Acton Coaches enough for their support and hard work. And not to mention all you kind members of the public who donated too.”

In a letter to Price Coaches from Awyr Las Blue Sky, the group was thanked for ‘helping to make a real difference to the lives of patients and their families’.
