STAFF from a Flintshire salon are aiming to undertake a mammoth feat in aid of a local mental health charity.

Employees of House of Beauty in Mold have set themselves the challenge of completing 1,000 miles in just 30 days to raise money for the Counselling Hub, also based in Mold.

The team is making up the distance by either walking, running or cycling and hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity - which provides a free counselling service for suicide prevention, depression, self harm and those that cannot access a private service.

Pui Leung, owner of House of Beauty, said: "As part of our job we are always talking to our clients, we sit and listen to your stories, you listen to ours. The best and hardest times of your life. It’s not just hair and nails, it’s more than that.

"We are hoping to raise money for our local charity based in Mold, The Counselling Hub, that helps support people with mental health issues, including suicide prevention and those with thoughts of self harm.

"We all know friends, family and clients that have been supported by the Counselling Hub - so what better way to help support each other and say thank you."

On the challenge, Pui said: "It looks daunting on the face of it, but we have a big team and everyone is covering several miles a day - and some with the help of their children - so we're very confident we'll achieve it."

Paula Ringeval, founder of the Counselling Hub, said: "We'd like to offer our most sincere thanks to House of Beauty for undertaking this challenge in what for some is the most challenging time ever.

"We strengthen the community and our community strengthens us. Together we can make hugely positive impacts on those struggling to cope during the Covid-19 pandemic and going forward."
