POLICE are appealing for information following a spate of deliberate fires at Westminster Park in Ellesmere Port.

Firefighters were called out to three separate blazes in just over half an hour yesterday evening (May 21).

The park is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Crews were initially called to deal with two fires involving a quantity of rubbish at 8.59pm and 9.21pm.

The third call out at 9.33pm involved a fire at the base of a tree. A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.

Cheshire Constabulary's Rossmore Police social media account posted today: "Report of three deliberate fires on Westminster Park last night.

"Park is currently closed. If you have any information please contact 101, ref-IML709636."
