COSTA Coffee has re-opened stores in Flintshire and Wrexham after the success of re-opening other venues.

The Costa Coffee at Broughton Park, based on the Flintshire and Chester border, was among the 15 outlets that will be open, allowing customers to enter the store and collect a coffee to takeaway.

Wrexham Plas Coch Reail Park has reopened its drive thru lane allowing customers to enjoy a Costa whilst on an essential journey.

In an open letter on the company website, Costa Coffee CEO Jill McDonald said: “Over the past three weeks, in line with Government guidelines, we have been trialling social distancing across a small number of Costa stores.

“We have also enhanced our hygiene procedures and adapted our operations, including contactless payment only and providing personal protective equipment for all team members. We have received some great feedback from our store team members and customers have responded well to our new ways of working.”

On the Costa Coffee website, it states that for those customers visiting a takeaway store, they will look and feel quite different.

These changes include limiting the number of customers in the store, floor signage to support social distancing, the availability of hand sanitisers and a Perspex screen fitted at the counter.

The new guides state that, to maintain a contactless service, chains will only accept contactless payment and will not be able to accept physical Coffee Club cards. Customers can still collect and redeem loyalty points using the Costa app.

Costa will also not be accepting any reusable cups for the time being.
