A FATHER and son have been fined by police for travelling from Manchester to Flintshire for a second time in a fortnight.

Officers from the Rural Crime Team made a post on social media about the pair that travelled to North Wales without a good enough reason.

A spokesman said: “Incredibly we have had to issue COVID fines to the same father and son who keep returning to an area of Flintshire from Manchester to carry out unnecessary work on a SSSI, despite being told not to.

“They have both been fined twice now...two weekends on the run!”

Fines in Wales begin at £60 and go up to £120 for repeat offenders, but can be reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.

Data released by the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) on May 15 show that in Wales 799 FPNs have been issued up to May 11 for breaches of government public health regulations.

The statistics reveal that across North Wales, since records began on March 27, officers handed out 143 fines.

Government public health regulations introduced to prevent the spread of coronavirus enable officers to issue individuals with fines if they failed to comply after officers have engaged with them, explained the risks to public health and encouraged voluntary compliance.
