RESIDENTS of a Flintshire village have been getting dressed up in their finest and going out – but only to put their bins at the bottom of their drives.
Gwernymynydd county councillor Kevin Hughes has been snapping residents dressed to the nines carrying out mundane tasks around their homes during the Covid-19 lock-down.

He said: “I saw dressing up to put bins and recycling out had become something of a social media craze in Australia and thought it was a great way of bringing a smile to a few faces during lock-down.

“Residents were quickly on board with the idea and we have had some cracking efforts across all age groups. I never thought I’d see young ladies putting bins out in prom gowns or people cleaning windows in wedding dresses.”

He added: “I’ve been really impressed with the community spirit across both Gwernymynydd and Nercwys during the whole coronavirus pandemic crisis. Everyone has been helping each other whether its with shopping or collecting prescriptions.

“Everyone has stuck to the social distancing measures and we had a great response to the 75th VE Day celebrations with lots of people out enjoying tea and scones in their front gardens.

“There is a real sense of togetherness and fun across both villages and the attitude is we will come through this tough period together. I think these fun images perfectly convey that mindset”
