A FLINTSHIRE man avoided jail after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman.

Keith Michael Barber, of Sandy Lane in Garden City, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on May 13 where he changed his not guilty plea to guilty.

On April 24, the 57-year-old assaulted Victoria Gaskell.

Barber was given a 22-week prison sentence due to using a weapon but this was suspended for 12 months due to his change of plea.

He was also given a curfew for ten weeks between the hours of 6pm and 6am and a restraining order was made for five years.

Barber was also ordered to pay £300 compensation, a surcharge of £128, costs of £150 bringing the total to £578 and a collection order was made.
