PARENTS from Wrexham have spoken of their pride towards their teenage twin sons for showing kindness towards others.

Sonya and Rob Hughes, from Rhostyllen, parents of 14-year-old twins, Adam and Nathan, wanted to highlight their fundraising efforts, which resulted in an incredible £350 being raised for their chosen charity.

They said: "We're so proud of them for wanting to do something like this when so many teenage boys get bad press.

"The boys play football for Rhostyllen Youth Football Club and their manager got all of the players to download the Strava Football App - in order to get them all doing challenges, with the first being to run 5km in the fastest time.

"They've never really been distance runners but they truly enjoyed it - which is why they decided to set themselves a challenge of completing 10km whilst raising some money for charity at the same time.

"The boys didn't know which charity to donate to - but due to us having friends who have been helped by Nightingale House Hospice, it seemed like a natural choice."

Mrs Hughes set up a JustGiving page on April 26 with the date for the run taking place last Friday (May 8), which saw the youngsters both completing the challenge in just a little over an hour.

She added: "Having kids who want to help others is something we should all be extremely proud of."
