WALES and Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has given his support to North Wales Police's campaign to urge people to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wrexham-born Harry, who attended Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen, appears in a video telling people to keep safe and protect the NHS.

In the video, Harry said: "Thanks for following the advice so far and staying home. North Wales will still be here when all this is over, but for now stay home, protect the NHS and save lives."

North Wales Police, along with Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board, have been urging people to stay home since lockdown regulations began last month.

The force tweeted a thank you Harry for supporting the "important #StayHomeSaveLives message".

Police and the health board are continuing to urge the public to continue to adhere to restrictions to help slow the spread of coronavirus.

Chief Constable Carl Foulkes said: “Everyone must contribute to the national effort to respond to the coronavirus outbreak and we would like to thank the vast majority who have made significant changes to their daily habits and routines. You really are playing your part in helping to save lives.

"What we are doing is showing signs of working but we must keep going otherwise the last few weeks will have been for nothing."

Harry, who was brought up in Corwen, became the youngest international in Welsh history when he appeared as a substitute in a game against Belgium in October 2013, aged 16 years and 207 days.

The talented star also netted his grandfather, Peter Edwards, £125,000 after he placed a bet, when Harry was just 18-months-old, that he would one day become a Wales international.

Having briefly been on the books at Wrexham and Manchester United, Harry first signed to Liverpool as a member of the under 9s squad and went on to sign a professional contract with the club in July 2014.

Although not playing due to the Premier League being suspended during the coronavirus, the 23-year-old has made good progress at his loan club Bournemouth.

But his loyalties still seem to lie at Anfield as he was spotted wearing a Liverpool tracksuit when his loan side faced Jurgen Klopp's world and European champions this season.
