MORE than 700 people across Cheshire have tested positive for coronavirus, according to latest figures.

Public Health England statistics show that, as of 9am yesterday (April 7), there were 227 confirmed cases in Cheshire West and Chester.

The total number of cases in Cheshire stands at 705 – with Cheshire East recording 209, Warrington 162 and Halton 107.

Yesterday we reported that the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust had recorded four more deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus.

The death toll in Cheshire had risen to 74 – an increase of 11 in the space of a day – with the Countess now recording 19 in total.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 26 deaths, which is a rise of five, Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have recorded 17 – up one – and East Cheshire NHS Trust has recorded 12, which was also an increase of one.

Across the UK, as of 5pm on April 6 a total of 6,159 hospital patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died.

As of 9am yesterday, 213,181 people have been tested of which 55,242 tested positive.
