A NEW challenge has been launched in a bid to keep people active during the coronavirus lockdown.

The challenge is to cover 100,000 miles by jogging, running, walking, or any human powered wheel based travel.

The 100thousandmiles challenge has been put together and is being supported by three local businesses, they are Chris Hibbert Coaching, Champion Sports Elite (CSE) and Spectra Media - Miles of Support.

The idea was initially brought forward by Buckley Town Football Club player, Chris Hibbert (Chris Hibbert Coaching), the basis of his idea is that a club of our size would be able to use it's significant reach to raise funds mainly to support the NHS, and more specifically Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, as well as the Football Club itself through this difficult period.

Chris said: "100thousandmiles is a large target, and we will need to come together as a community in order to achieve it.

"We are all aware of the extent to which NHS resources are being stretched at present, and the general consensus amongst Chris, CSE & Spectra was that finding a way to support the NHS through this period would of course be a worthy mission!

"During this time of non-participation in football, a club the size of Buckley Town will undoubtedly face some challenges, they have in excess of 450 players at the club and with that does come an element of fixed cost, which they will need to find a way of covering.

"As a trio of existing Club Partners, we are extremely pleased to be able to collaborate again, and we hope that we are able to achieve the 100,000 miles target with the support of our community.

"We welcome all support both by way of completing some miles or donations."
