A WREXHAM pub, charity shop and grocery store are collaborating to provide a food and essential items delivery service amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Vaults pub and Age Concern and Nisa Local - all in Ruabon - are working together to provide the service for local residents.

Gareth Maybury, assistant manager at The Vaults, said: "Essentially we saw the proverbial iceberg as regards a possible lockdown a few weeks ago and decided to stock up on non perishables and toiletries and books and the like in preparation.

"When that boom was lowered last Monday we were able to act straight away on the next day delivered packages to the vulnerable in our local community.

"It's proved so popular that we're continuing to collect and deliver - in combination with Age Concern and Nisa,

"We've also had generous donations by the Tesco in Cefn and the community minded people of the village."

Nisa has donated money to Age Concern - which is buying goods and is running a database of those who needs it most and will take donations to people's doors.

If you'd like to donate, The Vaults can take your donations at the pub.

Gareth added: "Give the pub a ring on 824130 andwe'll make sure we can organise a time when someone is here to receive them."
