POLICE have been patrolling the grounds of Wrexham Maelor Hospital to reassure NHS staff working through the night during the coronavirus outbreak.

Between incidents, last night and this morning, PC Gareth Roberts and PC Leah Restall, patrolled outside hospital.

Wrexham Town Police said the patrols were "to provide reassurance to our NHS colleagues working hard through the night".

Meanwhile, one town officer covered more than 16,000 steps while patrolling the town centre and Caia Park.

Last night, Wrexham Town Police tweeted: "PC Andrew Jones has covered 16,000 steps so far through tonight with PC Emma Watts."
