A GROUP of teenagers would have been shown the yellow card for their failure to comply with social distancing guidelines - but they ran off.

In recent days, North Wales Police has praised people for staying at home to keep them and everyone else safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

However, some people are still ignoring the advice.

Yesterday, the South Flintshire team tweeted that a group of youths had been seen playing football in Nannerch.

They tweeted: "Unfortunately a small minority still choose to ignore advice in relation to COVID 19. Officers encountered 3 teenage males playing football in Nannerch late this afternoon who quickly made off on our arrival.

Meanwhile, today, North Wales Chief Constable Carl Foulkes said education and encouragement would be used by his officers when they encounter people not following advice.

He tweeted: "Reflecting on both media and issues that have come into my office in relation to policing approach. I am clear I want my officers to use discretion Engage, Educate, Encourage & only Enforce as last resort.

"We want always get it right but we are working hard to ensure consistency."
