A DEESIDE gymnastics club is keeping members busy after being forced to close due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Deeside Leisure Centre closed its doors for the foreseeable in a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19 - as a result, Deeside Gymnastics Academy had to come up with a new way to train.

Clare Rudd said members are keeping busy by posting training videos and daily challenges online.

She told the Leader: "Our girls and boys train for around one hour and our competitive train 18 hours a week.

"All our coaches have their own group and are keeping their gymnasts active by posting daily workouts and a fabulous and fun daily challenge.

"Each of the gymnasts posts a video of how many they can do and we add it to our Instagram story.

"We’ve had mums, dads and even one of our nanny’s who is 66 taking part. We are trying to engage our gymnasts whilst they stay at home in a fun and active way to keep their passion for gymnastics alive.

"We decided to do this as we all have to work together to keep our spirits up and work through this time together.

"Our gymnastics family are amazing. The challenges are open to anyone you don’t have to be a gymnast. Just find us on Facebook and Instagram @DeesideGymnasticsAcademy and join in on the fun."
