A DISTRICT nursing team in Flintshire have released a video with an important message to the public regarding coronavirus.

The team of district nurses, based in Flint’s Health and Wellbeing Centre, have been working flat out to help during the current pandemic of COVID-19 but want people to understand they must start following advice about staying at home to stop the virus spreading.

In a light-hearted video, the team have a resounding message to the public to follow the advice and stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary.

Team members approach the camera with key messages written on them such as ‘protect your loved ones, stay indoors’ and ‘we’re all in this together’ that members of the public still seem to be flouting.

Wendy Mousley, the district nurse lead for the area, told the Leader: “The team made the video to raise awareness of what the government and public health services have been saying for weeks now, but we still see people out and about like nothing is happening.

“We really wanted to get that message across that you need to stay at home unless it is absolutely essential.

“The virus does not move around by itself, people move it around. If we stop moving around then we stop the spread and eventually this virus will die. It is just getting that awareness out there and having people ask themselves are these trips out they are making actually essential.”

Wendy thinks people are ignoring these messages as they think the virus is not going to have a effect on them but urges people to think twice and do what they can in the short term to stop the long term impact of this virus on wider communities.

Discussing the video itself, she said: “The response has been brilliant so far. It has been shared on social media and viewed by thousands of people who are hopefully taking the right messages away from it.

“We shared it on a district nurse forum that is also on social media which has gained some fantastic feedback from other teams that are trying to spread the same messages where they work.”
