A CORONAVIRUS patient being treated at Gwynedd Hospital has sadly died, Public Health Wales has confirmed.
The Chief Medical Officer yesterday confirmed the death of two Welsh residents who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
They included a 98-year-old patient who was being treated at Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.
Public Health Wales had at first said the patient was being treated at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan but later corrected the statement.
"Apologies for any distress this may have caused," a Public Health Wales spokesperson said.
Public Health Wales confirmed that both patients, the other a 75-year-old patient at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, had underlying health conditions.
Dr Chris Williams, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “The Chief Medical Officer has today confirmed the death of two Welsh residents who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Public Health Wales offer our sincere condolences to families and friends affected.
“Five people in Wales who tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) have now died.
“No further details regarding the individuals will be released, and we ask those reporting on the situation to respect patient confidentiality.”
