TWO major events on the Bala town calendar have been cancelled following the coronavirus outbreak.
The Bala Challenge, due to be held in May, and the Food and Drink Festival in June have been postponed as the latest events to be hit by fears over the spread of coronavirus.
They attract hundreds of people to the town each year, with 45 stall holders scheduled to set up shop in the summer event.
Organisers the Rotary Club of Bala and Penllyn said they “hope that we will be fortunate” to reorganise the events.
“It is with regret that the Rotary Club of Bala and Penllyn have had to cancel our two major fundraising events this year because of the Covid 19 outbreak,” said president Paul Dale.
“Our planning for Bala Challenge, and the Food and Drink Festival were proceeding well.
“We very much hope that we will be fortunate to organise these events as soon as practically possible.”
Mr Dale added that the RCBP is working to help the community over the coming weeks and months and is looking for ideas on how it could support.
