POLICE officers will do everything they can to maintain service across North Wales, a police inspector said.

Inspector Stephen Roberts, of the South Flintshire policing team said that although the country is going through a crisis, his team is doing everything they can.

He told the Leader: "The big thing for me right now is reassuring the people of South Flintshire that even though as a country we are embedded in the biggest crisis most people have ever encountered outside the war, we are doing everything we can to maintain services to the public.

"That's right across the board, everything we can do, we are doing.

"It will be interesting to see how that develops when things get worse, which I think they will.

"We have got to have a common sense approach and all I can advise is to go with the advice from the people who are running these shops. Their advice is that they won't run out of stock but if people buy everything today, it will take a while to replenish because there is only so much you can hold in any one place.

"In terms of things getting out of hand, here in South Flintshire we haven't seen anything like that which is really good."

The Inspector said that the force will continue using all the methods they can to maintain an excellent service.

Amidst the unprecedented times, Inspector Roberts has praised his team for their hard work, including the arrest of Richard Davies who had absconded from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire.

He added that although there had been several episodes of criminal damage in Buckley, his team were 'progressing in their investigations'.
