AN EVENT is being held to bring all parts of the community together than let them know what's on offer in Offa.

The event held at the Parciau Community Centre in Bellvue Park on Saturday, March 21, will enable people to kind out about the different groups that meet at the centre, including craft groups, playgroups, and a pensioners lunch club.

Organised by Offa Community Council, it is open to all ages and it is hoped that many of the people that have settled in Offa from nations like Portugal, Poland and Bulgaria will come along and see how they can get involved with activities at the centre.

It will also be a chance for residents to meet with their community councillors.

The "What's on Offa" event will take place between noon and 4pm. Admission is free

There will be demonstrations from the police, ambulance and fire services, with the police having a number of "freebies" to giveaway to improve personal safety and safety in the home. This has been made possible by a £750 grant from the Community Cohesion Fund.

Council clerk Karen Benfield said the event will also be attended by many of he community groups that use the centre as well as representatives from the youth service who run three youth clubs in Offa.

She said: "It is a great opportunity for residents to come along and find out the many opportunities and activities available to them to join in within their community. They will also be able to meet their community councillors for a chat and find out about the many other services that the Community Council provides.

"This is a new initiative for our residents and we are hoping as many as possible come along to the event and with free refreshments and cake it should be a great afternoon."
