THE winners of the Flintshire Towns St David's Day Window Dressing Competition have been revealed.

For a number of years, Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam have been organising the St David's Day competition on behalf of Flintshire Council, which encourages local businesses to decorate their windows on the theme of celebrating all things Welsh.

The competition, which has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years, saw a wide range of businesses in the areas of Mold, Holywell, Flint, Connah's Quay and Shotton compete in this year's event.

The competitions were judged either by the mayor of each town or a representative of the town council, who had the difficult task of making the final decision.

The winners of the Mold competition, judged by Mayor Tim Maunders, were the Nightingale House Hospice Shop, in joint second place were Mel's Café and the Dawnsio Dance, and in joint third place were the Flowers by Anne and Spoons and Fork.

The winners of the Holywell competition, judged by Mayor Paul Johnson, were the 2nd Time Around Shop, in joint second place were The Flower Bowl and the Tower Crafts Holywell and in third place was Shear Envy by Sally.

The winners of the Flint competition, judged by Mayor Norma Davies, were the Llyfrgell Y Fflint Library, in joint second place were the Just for you Laundry and the Home Farm Trust/NEWCIS Charity Shop, and in third place were Delyn Windows Ltd, the Emma's Country Choice Florists and Lloyds Pharmacy.

The winners of the Connah's Quay competition, judged by members of the town council, were the Evergreen Dry Cleaners, in joint second place was Cambrian Aquatics and the Quay Café, and in third place was Dragon Trophies.

The winners of the Shotton competition, judged by pupils of Ysgol Croes Atti and Gillian Brockley, chair of Shotton Town Council, were the Nightingale House Hospice Shop, in second place was Cancer Research UK and in third place was Kk's Hair and Beauty.

Gill Stephen, Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam's chief officer, said: "Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam would like to thank and congratulate all the businesses for taking part and it was a delight seeing that all the businesses had made a great effort to celebrate Welsh culture.

"We would like to wish all the businesses every success in next year's competition."
