AN ASPIRING photographer has her bouncy four-legged friend to thank for giving her talents a chance to shine in a national photography competition.

Evey Garner is studying for her A levels, including photography, at Mold Alun School.

It was while walking her dog Chip that she took a photo that has been shortlisted in RSPCA’s People’s Choice online photo competition.

And Chip, being a Chorkie which is a mixed-breed created by crossing a Yorkshire terrier (Yorkie) with a Chihuahua, packs a lot of energy and character into a small package.

The 16-year-old's photo of Chip 'Meerkat or dog?' was taken on her phone and captures her beloved pet's nature.

Evey said: "I would described Chip as very bouncy."

Evey, who lives in Connah's Quay, added: "That is something that Chip does. I was taking him for a walk one day and he was doing it so I decided to take a photo on my phone.

"I saw the competition online. I entered a few photographs, including one of a butterfly, but most of them were of Chip."

With the positive reaction to the photograph, Evey is hoping to continue with photography in the future.

She said: "A lot of friends and family have liked the photo and they think it's good that it's something I want to do."

"I have started using a camera but I still like to use my phone."
