ST ASAPH City manager Daniel Brewerton praised his side’s fighting qualities following their 2-2 home draw with Mynydd Llandegai.

The Saints’ left it extremely late before eventually securing a share of the spoils against their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One rivals, leaving them with some positive momentum ahead of their home clash with basement dwellers Prestatyn Sports on Saturday.

Brewerton, said: “We went into the game knowing that we had a great opportunity to pick up a very important three points.

“I thought we started the game, we were well organised and moved the ball around well, we created a few good chances and should have really scored one or two of them before half time.

“Second half was similar, but we got caught out with a short corner that saw us go behind.

“The lads responded really well, and we made some really good chances, but again didn’t finish them although eventually we found our way through.

“Again, the lads responded really well to Mynydd’s second and threw everything at them, so it was great to see them get a point with the last kick of the game.”

A scoreless first half came to life after the break after the visitors broke the deadlock on 67 minutes when Osian Jones hit the target.

The home side gradually got into the game as the second period progressed and they got themselves level on 77 minutes thanks to a superb strike from 16-year-old Dylan Roche.

This joy proved to be fleeting as Mynydd regained their advantage thanks to Jones’ second of the afternoon with 78 on the clock, but City kept plugging away until the death and got their reward when Liam Grayson rescued a point with the final attacking action of the game.
