RENVOATIONS on St Asaph City FC’s playing surface have begun thanks to the generosity of a regional business.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side suffered extensive damage to all areas of their base following severe flooding caused by Storm Ciara, leaving the club facing a significant clean-up process in the coming weeks.

Miles Todd, owner of 360 Groundcare, has offered to restore the pitch to its former glory free of charge, and work to restore the area began this week.

This involved removing 30 tonnes of silt, gravel and river debris off the surface which resulted in a complete makeover for the site.

A tweet from St Asaph City FC, read: “Can’t thank these guys enough! We could never have done this without your support, fantastic company with a fantastic service.

“Thank you from everyone at St Asaph City FC.”

A series of donations to a crowdfunding page set up to ease the financial burden for the club during the clean-up process has raised £950 so far.

The Saints’ changing rooms, kitchen and pitch were decimated from the effects of the storm, leaving plans to secure new Tier 3 criteria implemented by the Football Association of Wales in 2020/21 in doubt.

The club’s mower has also been ruined which adds to the cost of repairs, which a club spokesman stated is going to be “substantial”.
