TWO men from Holyhead who stole from a church have received jail sentences for various offences carried out in their town.

Steven Edmunds, 38, and Frankie Davies, 48, received immediate custodial sentences of 58 weeks and 38 weeks respectfully.

They both appeared before Mold Magistrates' Court.

Edmunds, 38, of Holyhead, was convicted after being arrested by Holyhead police for a string of dishonest offences.

He was responsible for a burglary at St Cybi’s church, where power tools were taken during renovation work.

He also stole theft of a cancer research charity box from Tesco in Holyhead.

In addition, Edmunds stole a purse from an elderly female from the Holyhead Co-Op whilst the victim was innocently out shopping.

His associate, Frankie Davies, 48, also from Holyhead was also convicted for burglary at St Cybi's church.

In statement on Facebook, by North Wales Police, Anglesey, Area Support Sergeant Ian Roberts said “To steal from a church, to take a charity box and to steal from an elderly female’s handbag is totally abhorrent.

"The team have worked tirelessly to gather the evidence and to bring these offenders to justice.

"The policing team and the community of Holyhead will not tolerate such criminality and we will tirelessly peruse those who think they can behave in such manner.

"Both, by their actions showed total lack of respect for the community that they lived in”.
