ST David’s Day celebrations will be taking place in Flintshire next week.

Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, in partnership with Flintshire Council - as well as the Flint, Shotton and Connah’s Quay Town Councils - have all joined forces to organise a number of events.

This year, Flint Town centre's celebrations will be held in Church Street on Monday, March 2.

The event will commence at 10am - with staging set in front of St Mary’s Church with all welcome to join in the fun of the Welsh themed performances from Band Cambria and local schools.

Connah’s Quay and Shotton St David's Day celebrations will be held at the Civic Hall on Tuesday, March 3.

The event will be held between 10am until 12pm - and there is a very warm welcome to all to attend and have a hot beverage - whilst enjoying the Welsh themed performances from Shotton and Connah’s Quay schools.

Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam’s chief officer, Gill Stephen, said: "There is a warm welcome for people of all ages to join in the fun again this year - whether they are Welsh speakers or not.

"This extremely popular event is an opportunity for everyone in Flintshire to celebrate the Welsh identity of the town and we are looking forward again this year to seeing the shops decorated on a St David's Day theme for the Window Dressing Competition.

"The winners of the St David’s window decorating competition will also be announced during the two events and the winning businesses will receive an award and a prize."

These celebrations are a part of numerous events that will take place across Wales to celebrate our Patron Saint’s Day - visitors are encouraged to use #DewiFflint on social media for information, to share photos, and to follow the event throughout the day.
