A LOCAL council has published a small set of rules for drone users to abide by before new signs are put up in the area.

In January, the Leader reported that Airbus were planning to put up ‘No Drone Zone’ signs in communities near Hawarden Airport – including Queensferry.

But with those signs not expected to be put up until later on in the year, Queensferry Community Council have published a small set of rules for drone users to follow.

The rules were picked out of a lengthy report that Airbus presented to Queensferry councillors in January about the risk they pose to the airport and aircraft.

Six do’s and don’ts have been published on the community council’s website, with it urging drone users to:

  • Fly at or below 400 feet.
  • Keep your drone within sight.
  • Never fly near other aircraft, especially near airports.
  • Never fly over groups of people or sports events.
  • Never fly near emergency response efforts such as fires.
  • Never fly under the influence.
