A TOWN’s annual tradition for Pancake Day has been cancelled ahead of the bad weather forecast.

Organisers of Mold Pancake Race, now in it’s 15th year, have made the decision to cancel the event due to be held on Tuesday, February 25.

The plan to cancel the event came on Monday afternoon due to the weather predictions made which have said Mold is set for sleet and hail.

A spokesman for the town council said: “Due to hail and sleet forecast for Mold tomorrow, it is with regret that we have made the decision to cancel this year’s Pancake Day races.

“Mold Town Council would like to thank Spavens Sweet Shop who were sponsoring the race by providing the specially made pancakes and prizes.

“A thank you also goes to all the volunteers who were due to attend including members of Mold Rotary Club, who have supported the event for the last 14 years.”

The race was due to be held in the Daniel Owen Square on Tuesday, February 25, at 2pm.
