MEMBERS of a hospital league of friends came together with guests to celebrate a special milestone.

Officials and members of the Bala and district branch of the Wrexham Hospital League of Friends met on Saturday at Bala Golf Club.

They joined families and friends for lunch in order to celebrate 40 years of service since the branch was formed in January, 1980.

A spokesman said: "Although having to endure ‘Storm Dennis’ an interesting afternoon was enjoyed by all.

"The present chairperson, Huw P. Roberts, welcomed everyone to this gathering and Mrs. Dorothy Pritchard, a founder member of the Committee in 1980, gave a short history of the factual forming of the Branch.

"Other founder members were also present and Dr Eleri Edwards, honorary president, undertook the cutting of the wonderful cake made by Rita Jones who was also responsible for the enjoyable meal at the golf club.

"Dr Edwards also paid tribute to the wonderful work undertaken by Bala and Penllyn people over the years as they have raised the amazing sum of £136,378 between 1981 and 2019.

"A heartfelt thanks was also made to the present secretary, Eirian Roberts for arranging this special celebration together with the hard work undertaken by Geunor Davies, treasurer, and her assistant-treasurer, Sarah Lewis.

"At the end of the meeting, Mair Charles, vice-chairperson, paid a vote of thanks to all for the support given to this exceptionally hard working committee over the years."
