MEMBERS of a Chester and Wrexham based theatre company are set to stride out on stage in aid of a local hospice as the curtain rises on their latest play.

The play Cheshire Cats, written by Chester based playwright Gail Young, will be staged in the Emlyn Williams Theatre at Theatr Clwyd from March 4 to 7 at 7.45pm.

A matinee performance will take place on March 7 at 2.45pm.

The play tells the story of a group of friends who head down to London to take part in a Moonlight Walk in aid of a Breast Cancer Charity.

It was first performed in 2005 followed by sell out performances at The Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2006 and The Forum Studio Theatre in 2011.

Since being published by Samuel French in 2011, the play has been performed throughout the world by many different theatre companies and has raised many thousands of pounds for cancer charities.

Laugh out loud funny and beautifully poignant in equal measure, the play features many moving moments as each of the main characters gradually reveal their own very personal reasons for taking part in the walk.

Speaking about the play, Gail Young said: "Cheshire Cats is such a cherished old friend of mine, being the first full length play that I ever wrote way back in 2005.

"In keeping with the ethos of the show, Tip Top Productions have chosen to support Nightingale House Hospice with this particular production at Theatr Clwyd - so why not grab a ticket and combine a good night out with supporting this local charity."

Delyth Underwood, in memory giving fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice, said "Nightingale House are delighted that Tip Top Productions are supporting the work of our wonderful hospice.

"A hospice isn’t just a place to die. It’s a place to live - for our patients with life limiting illness - to live as normal a life as possible, pain free."
