A DANCE group featuring a dancer from Chirk is celebrating after becoming one of the final seven acts on a popular BBC One dance show.

Brothers of Dance once again received the public’s backing on The Greatest Dancer, with their moving performance on Saturday night.

With the theme of Saturday night’s show being Around the World, the group of nine, which includes Chirk-born Iffan Roberts, wowed the audience with an emotionally-driven performance which paid homage to the Amazon rainforest fires.

Their energetic display earned the approval of 91.3 per cent of the audience.

Managed by Cheryl, the group said they wanted to tell the story of how beautiful and fragile the South-American forest is.

The former Girls Aloud singer was incredibly pleased with their performance.

Cheryl said: “You truly lived up to the name Brothers of Dance, because you really danced as brothers and as a unit.

“You were there together as brothers and you were united.

“I cant tell you how many messages I’ve had from people saying you’ve inspired their sons or brothers to dance. It’s amazing.

“I feel very emotional about that dance, so thank you.”

It was not just Cheryl out of the four judges who was impressed, with Todrick Hall, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison all giving positive feedback.

“Brothers of Dance, you bring it every week,” Todrick said. “You make me so proud to be a male dancer.

“You make me feel that every week.

“I feel like every pose you made throughout the dance could be on a coffee table somewhere, which I would buy, or a calendar, because I would love to see Brothers of Dance 12 months a year.”

Oti said the group was faultless technically, while Matthew said the dance was a beautiful rendition.

Brothers of Dance had a nervy wait to find out whether they had got through to the next stage of the competition, after their name was read out last on the list of acts through to the next show.

They will perform again on Saturday’s live show, airing at 7.05pm on BBC One.
