A BUSINESS expert spoke of his delight following two recently announced big boosts for Deeside.

The Leader reported last week how Wales Rally GB announced it is to return to the area after moving away to Llandudno last year.

On the very same day, it was announced that a new Amazon delivery station is set to open in Deeside, creating more than 50 jobs.

Askar Sheibani, managing director and CEO of Comtek Network Systems and chairman of Deeside Business Forum (DBF), said previously that he felt the decision to move the rally out of Deeside had made "no commercial sense".

Now it is confirmed to be coming back, he said: "I did say it was an ill thought out decision - if they had listened to me they would not have gone. "Deeside is the best location in the whole of the UK for this event and the good thing is that they have gone away and realised that.

"The location and connectivity here is amazing - we can attract people from all over the world."

Speaking of Amazon's announcement, he continued: "It is well known as a global brand and they have chosen Deeside. Why?

"Because of the community and location we have here.

"We work together. Even during the worst period of time recently when everyone was 'doom and gloom' because Brexit was looming, we were moving forward. "We were optimistic and determined and we have aspirations to connect the whole of North Wales with full fibre.

"There are fantastic opportunities here and I am convinced that in five years North Wales will be one of the best economic areas in the UK.

"These two things - the Rally and Amazon - are amazing and really just endorse my view."
