A MAN was taken to hospital after a crash in Hengoed near Oswestry on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the collision near Hengoed Park Residential Home at 10.20pm with reports of a two-vehicle crash.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) were in attendance and treated one man, the driver of a van involved, for minor injuries – he was discharged at the scene.

The driver of a car involved, another man, was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to hospital.

A spokesman for WMAS said: "We were called by West Mercia Police at 10.20pm to a two-vehicle RTC.

"We sent one ambulance and treated two patients. One man driving the van was treated and discharged on the scene.

"The driver of the other vehicle was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was also in attendance and worked to make the vehicles safe after the incident.
