A PLANNING application for a new café in Oswestry town centre was withdrawn on Monday.

Oswestry Town Council’s Development and Planning Committee was set to look over the application, submitted by Tawanda Melusi, at a meeting on Wednesday night.

However, it was announced that the application had been withdrawn 48 hours before the meeting.

The application contained proposals for a change of use from an empty shop in Leg Street to a café from retail.

Comments made on the application by Shropshire Council Regulatory Services and Shropshire Council Conservation highlighted small concerns regarding the level of detail in the submitted application.

The Regulatory Services commented to say an extraction system may have been necessary because of the nature of the building’s usage.

They also said further detail was required regarding what food and drink the café would be offering, and what the opening times would be.
