AT LEAST four new car parking spaces will be painted on to a Flintshire road in a bid to ease the chaotic congestion in the area.

It is expected that four spaces will be painted on to the lay-by outside Spar and Griffiths Pharmacy on Welsh Road in Garden City.

A single disabled-only space could also be added after traffic issues in that area were discussed by councillors at the Sealand Community Council meeting on Monday (February 10).

Cllr Christine Jones said: “This is just a quick fix for now because there’s a desperate situation with parking at the moment and its causing chaos in the area.

“Four spaces should be painted on to the lay-by outside the Spar and one disabled spot could be added too.

“There is a small car park there already that is supposed to be just for the shops, but everybody seems to be using it.

“We need more space around those shops because there’s just not enough room for cars around there and it’s just chaotic with cars parking where they shouldn’t be.

“A parking order (which will limit the time cars can spend parked there) is ultimately what we want to put there, but that is a very expensive process.

“This is a quick fix, but it will help when it finally comes to getting a parking order set up there because the extra spaces are needed too.”

A small car park with seven spaces is already on site next to Griffiths Pharmacy, but the new spaces will be added to the lay-by directly in front of the two shop fronts.
