A GROUP of friends will use their music and their band for a good cause next month.

Idle Lies will be hosting a live music event at the Civic Hall, Connah's Quay on March 14 in a bid to raise funds for local charity Libby's Cafe.

Libby's cafe offers a place for people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and lonely elderly people a place to socialise and continue living normal lives.

Sam Leonard, songwriter and guitarist said: "I heard about the charity through my friend Amy Speakman, who’s arranging this night with us, and this is something we’re both passionate about and seems like the perfect way to use the band and our music for a great cause.

"Idle Lies have played twice before in Connah’s Quay, and we got an amazing reception both times and a great turnout, and therefore want to use this for the benefit of an organisation that works hard to improve the lives of those less fortunate."

The Leader has previously reported that Idle Lies won the prestigious Battle of the Bands at the Cavern Club and their debut single has reached over 6,500 streams - including frequent plays on Radio Deeside.

Sam added: "It would mean a lot to us to be able to use the amazing support we’ve had so far to benefit others, particularly the great support we’ve had in Flintshire.

"As well as Idle Lies, there will be performances from Shotton-based rock band Steel, newly-formed Mold acoustic duo Jack Leonard-Gill and Asher Blythen, and the night will be DJ’d by Joe Duncan from Shotton who’s already established himself locally and around Chester.

"Hopefully we can raise as much money as possible for Libby’s Cafe."
