A WREXHAM Soprano will be among the opera stars performing in a concert that has been set up to raise money for a Welsh cancer charity.

Karen Davies Soprano – meaning to have a high pitched singing voice – will be performing at the ‘Love Notes’ concert on February 22 at St Mary’s Church in Tilston, Malpas.

The evening concert of love songs has been set up in aid of the Welsh cancer charity, Tenovus Cancer Care.

Ms Davies will make her appearance fresh from her success as The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Peterborough Opera.

The Wrexham star will sing along with Soprano Zena O’May who has sung with English National Opera and D’Oyle Carte Opera and recently sang the title role in Puccini’s opera ‘Tosca’.

Also on the bill is Cheshire based Mezzo Soprano - a female singer with a voice pitched between soprano and contralto - Lorna Kettle, who recently sang the role of Flora in La Traviata with Liverpool opera company ‘Opera Viva’.

Audience members will also be lucky enough to hear the well-known local composer and conductor Martin Bussey, putting the newly renovated church organ through its paces.

Mr Bussey is currently Musical Director at the highly regarded Chester Bach Singers.

The event is due to begin at 7.30pm on Saturday, February 22, and scheduled to conclude at approximately 10pm, with under eight year olds not permitted to attend.
