HOLYWELL children have gone above and beyond to raise funds for a country being ravaged by wildfires.

Pupils at Ysgol Maesglas held a One World event in a bid to raise funds for the Australian Red Cross.

They managed to raise £158.05 from pupils wearing green, gold or yellow clothing.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are so proud of all the children at this school, they always go above and beyond when it comes to helping others. They are a credit to our school, and their parents.

"We are so lucky to have the support of the parents at this school and would like to thank them also. Our One World club are working with other One World schools around the globe to make new communities and friends.

"Their aim is to work together to raise awareness of global issues and find solutions by collaborating with other schools."
