PROSPECTIVE foster parents in Wrexham are being encouraged to come forward.

Wrexham Fostering Service is hoping to hear from residents who are considering fostering a child or a young person.

A Wrexham Council spokesman said: “It’s so important to keep children in their local area to ensure continuity with friends and schools.

“Help us to keep local children safe in Wrexham by providing a loving, secure home.”

Foster parents are provided with training packages to assist them throughout the process, allowances to cover the cost of fostering, full support and guidance, equipment and household resources, professional qualifications (QCF level three in health and social care) and professional fees.

Cllr Andrew Atkinson, lead member for children’s services, said: “Fostering is an essential part of how we look after children in Wrexham.

“People might think that they don’t have the time or the resources to be able to foster, but we want to show people that it could be well within their capabilities.

Being a foster carer is by no means easy, but with the contribution of just some time and effort you could make an immeasurable difference to the life of a child in care.”
