A MOTORIST stopped on gravel beside the A55 in Flintshire during thick fog has been lambasted by police.
North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit said it had been called to reports that a vehicle had broken down on the A55 eastbound near Caerwys on Wednesday night.
But when they arrived, they found the vehicle hadn't in fact broken down - and the motorist had instead chosen to park up on the gravel right next to a live lane - just metres away from a service station.
A spokesman for the Roads Policing Unit said: "Driver reported for causing a motor vehicle to be left in a dangerous position.
"At the time the weather was bad with thick fog and he'd stopped in an unlit area.
"If you feel tired/need to use your phone/or nature calls please stop in a safe and appropriate place. The gravel at the side of lane one is NOT the place to go."
