FLINTSHIRE COUNCIL has welcomed the news that a Deeside business has outlined a £5.5m expansion plan - set to create an additional 40 jobs.

The Leader reported on Wednesday that KK Fine Foods, based in the Deeside Industrial Zone, is expanding and diversifying its production facility to supply frozen ready meals in the retail sector, having specialised in the pub and restaurant sectors.

The expansion plans - supported with £550,000 from the Welsh Government, include upskilling the current workforce and creating 40 new jobs, as well as accommodating a research and development centre with the potential of increasing opportunities for Welsh suppliers.

Councillor Derek Butler, Flintshire Council’s cabinet member for economic development, said: “This is great news for KK Fine Foods – a well-established local business which has been supported by Flintshire’s Economic Development team for many years.

"It is also good news for the local economy of Flintshire. Congratulations to everyone who has helped to make this happened and I wish KK Fine Foods the very best for their bright future.”
