A WREXHAM trader has expressed his gratitude towards the community who have supported his soon-to-be closing business.

Alun Hughes, 68, owner of the Alun Hughes Film, Music and Nostalgia Wrexham shop located on Bank Street, will be closing his business at the end of February - after seven years of being in trade.

He said: “I’ve had the pleasure of serving the public of Wrexham for seven years now, but sadly, all good things must come to an end.

“I’ve spent a total of 43 years within this trade which saw me work in various parts of North Wales, such as Rhyl and Holywell, but due to my age I’ve decided to go out on a high.

“I’m not retiring, I’m just going to enjoy my time a bit more, as running this business is a 52 weeks out of the year commitment.”

The Alun Hughes Film, Music and Nostalgia shop sells new and second-hand items, which is displayed in what Mr Hughes describes as ‘giving the place a deliberate untidy look’ that aims to not feel like those of well-known competitors - which in return creates a sort of an ‘atmosphere’ for his customers.

Last year saw the shop’s busiest year yet, which he feels is the perfect time for what started off as a ‘hobby’ to come to an end.

He added: “It will be nice to go out with a bang.

“I’ve lived in Wrexham since 1974 and I cannot thank the public enough.

“Despite the current portrayed image of the town, I’ve enjoyed every single minute of my seven years in operation.

The Leader:

“Wrexham is a fantastic place and I want to sincerely thank every single person who has supported my business since it opened back in 2013.

“They are and have all been absolutely amazing.”
