LOCAL businesses mucked in to help remove people's Christmas trees to raise thousands for a Wrexham hospice.

For a donation to Nightingale House Hospice, volunteers from the hospice, local community and from businesses in Flintshire and Wrexham collected their now redundant tree for them.

It took place on Saturday, with over 700 trees being collected - raising a brilliant £5,500 for the hospice.

The generous businesses included JT&M Signs, Thorncliffe, Rivington Haulage, Scottish power, Kimpton Energy Solutions, Cable Services, MOTUS Commercials, Read Construction, Amberon, Travis Perkins and Jackson Fire and security. Others were Avatar Fitness, Ash Waste, Clifford Jones Timber, Airbus, Jemoley’s.

This is as well as numerous volunteers - with members of the community kindly donating their time and their own vehicles to help on the day.

Stuart Cornish, Motus Commercials regional truck sales manager, said: “As a business we like to support worthy local causes where possible and understand the importance of the work that Nightingale House do within the local community. Personally, I have experience of the amazing service provided as my grandfather spent some valuable time in the hospice.”

Samantha Amis, Nightingale House community and events fundraiser, expressed her thanks to everyone involved in the Christmas tree collection.

She said: "It was a huge community effort across Wrexham and Flintshire; from the volunteers and business that helped on the day to our hugely generous public that booked their trees in and donated towards patient at nightingale house hospice.

"We are so pleased we can raise such vital funds for Nightingale House patients as well as helping the environment in our community by recycling over 700 Christmas trees.

"We are already busy planning for our 2021 collection and due to the success of this year collection we are looking to expand the areas that we collect from so if there is any local businesses or local people who would like to volunteer next year please do get in touch."
