THE death of a 41-year-old man following a 'disturbance' on New Year's Day in Wrexham is not being treated as suspicious by police.

Officers were called to Pont Wen, in the Whitegate area of Caia Park, at around 8.15pm on January 1 to reports of a disturbance.

Darren Richards, from the Wrexham area, died and a 37-year-old man, also from the Wrexham area, was taken into custody to assist police with their enquiries.

But today (Thursday, January 9) officers investigating the death of Mr Richards said they will be taking no further action with regards to the 37-year-old man arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

DCI Gary Kelly added; “We are not looking for anyone else in relation to Mr Richard’s tragic death and officers will be compiling a report for the coroner in due course.

"We extend our condolences to his family and would like to thank them for their cooperation at this difficult time.”
